The Akari lights are handcrafted of translucent washi paper that is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. The designer has compared the light of Akari to sunlight filtered through traditional paper doors – the light sculptures create a warm glow and pleasant ambiance.

Purchase instructions: This product undergoes a meticulous hand-bonding process using paper and glue. As a result, you may notice minor traces of glue along the edge of the lampshade. Please be aware that this occurrence is considered normal and does not constitute a quality issue.

    This shade is aesthetically pleasing. You do need to take care when you put in the wire that holds it open. It would be easy to tear the paper globe. Once up, the fact that it is paper does not matter. It will last forever as long as nobody messes with it.

    This thing is made of paper so it can tear easily during installation, just be careful.

    I am very pleased with this rice paper pendant shade. It is just perfect and creates a soft light in my bedroom. It was easy to assemble and attach to the light cord. Great price too!
